Do you struggle with heartburn or other acid reflux symptoms? These symptoms can be so uncomfortable that you don’t want to eat at all. But did you know that choosing the right times to eat can actually have a big impact on your acid reflux symptoms?
As many people know, certain foods can trigger acid reflux symptoms. Some of these, like acidic foods are commonly recognized, while others are not as widely know. But even when you’re eating the right foods timing meals can be an important way to control acid reflux symptoms. Try:
- Eating smaller meals, more frequently
- Eat after you exercise, not the other way around
- Give yourself at least three hours between dinner and bedtime
All of these will help keep your stomach contents more settled in the stomach so acid does not come back up and cause symptoms. Other measures like propping yourself up if you do need to rest after a meal can be helpful, as Dr. Andrew Weil also suggests.
