Are you drinking enough water? It’s easy to overlook, but hydration is a key to avoiding gallbladder symptoms. How can you stay hydrated? And how does hydration help your gallbladder?
Gallstones are the major cause of gallbladder symptoms. Gallstones tend to form when bile is too thick. Bile is the substance made by the liver to help the body digest fat. The gallbladder stores bile until it is needed for digestion. A healthy intake of water and other hydrating drinks helps your body keep the bile at the right consistency. Dr. Andrew Weil agrees that drinking water an help prevent gallbladder problems.
Dr. Marina Rose, DC has helped people with gallbladder symptoms and other challenging, chronic health conditions in and around the city of Los Altos, CA.
Staying hydrated isn’t always as easy as you might think. A lot of the beverages that people drink throughout the day actually have a dehydrating effect because of a high caffeine or sugar content. Soda, tea, and coffee all fall into this category.
If you have a hard time drinking enough water each day, make hydration more fun with these tips:
- Flavor your drinking water with fresh herbs like mint
- Squeeze a little citrus into your water
- Replace black tea with a herbal tea
- Enjoy fresh fruit and vegetable juices

Would I be correct in my understanding that drinking water containing a large amount of chalk can contribute to gallstones?
If that is correct, and one has a problem with gallstones, is it possible to ensure that, if the drinking water is of high qualit, the danger is reduced.
What water is high quality in this context?
Thanks,
Geoffrey
